Job DescriptionThe Site Safety and Health Manager (SHHO) will provide support to the Operations department to enforce corporate safety and health policies and procedures. In addition to direct responsibilities, the SHHO will participate in and complete all tasks designated by the Corporate Safety Director.
Responsibilities- Conduct onsite safety inspections, safety orientations, and accident investigations.
- Supervise training of employees on safety policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Verify compliance with health and safety regulations and ensure all necessary records are maintained and prepared according to established guidelines.
- Manage participation in OSHA inspections, providing inspectors with appropriate documents and identifying safety measures.
- Act as advisor to the safety administration team regarding projects, tasks, operations, and accidents.
- Use experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
- Attend initial meetings with Project Staff and Subcontractor Representatives to define roles within the Project Program.
- Research new regulations and developments in Health and Safety and recommend changes to the company’s program.
- Control hazardous working conditions and unsafe employee practices through site visits, safety plans, and education of supervisory personnel.
- Perform a variety of tasks.
- Minimum of five years of experience in general construction with an emphasis on construction and/or industrial safety.
- Understanding of applicable federal, state, local, and company regulations.
- Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the construction field.
- BCSP Certification preferred.
- Electrical experience preferred.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients and employees.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management and staff.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills including presentation skills.
- Computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), email, and internet navigation software.
- Understanding of OSHA and other regulatory agency standards.
- Willing and able to visit a construction site at some time during employment.
