Superintendent Commercial Construction | Field Operations Position Overview

A well-established commercial general contractor is seeking a Superintendent to provide on‑site leadership and oversight for large‑scale construction projects. This role is responsible for directing all field operations, coordinating subcontractors and self‑perform crews, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with contract documents. The Superintendent may oversee up to 300 combined employees and subcontractors depending on project scope.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and direct all job site activities from project start through completion

  • Oversee self‑perform labor crews and subcontractors to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project requirements

  • Communicate daily with foremen and craft professionals to ensure productivity and schedule adherence

  • Ensure project goals are met according to specifications, schedule, and budget

  • Lead weekly subcontractor meetings focused on schedule performance, safety compliance, and quality control

  • Monitor and manage RFIs, delays, change conditions, and additional work requirements

  • Coordinate directly with subcontractors to ensure timely and accurate drawings and documentation

  • Maintain regular communication with the Project Manager and project team regarding progress, issues, changes, and delays

  • Assist with project closeout activities, including participating in closeout meetings approximately 30 days prior to completion

  • Communicate with owners, inspectors, and public entities while representing the company’s best interests

  • Develop and implement strategies to complete projects on or ahead of schedule and within budget

  • Follow established procedures, guidelines, and safety standards required to perform the duties of the position

  • Track self‑performed work productivity and ensure labor remains within budget

  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support project success

Qualifications
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a Superintendent with a commercial general contractor

  • Experience managing projects across one or more of the following sectors preferred:

    • Industrial / Big‑Box / Tilt‑Up
    • Office and Corporate
    • Education
    • Retail
    • Aviation
    • Medical / Healthcare
    • Multi‑Family
    • Federal / Municipal
    • Hospitality / Hotel / Casino
    • Sports / Recreation
    • Parking Structures
    • Tenant Improvements and Renovations
  • Proven experience coordinating and scheduling subcontractors

  • Experience with
    Procore or similar construction management software preferred

  • Strong knowledge of self‑perform concrete work highly desired

  • Ability to lead large teams and manage complex job site logistics
