Job Summary
Washoe County School District is seeking a full‑time School Counselor to implement a comprehensive equitable counseling program aligned with the State of Nevada School Counseling Model. The counselor will provide direct counseling services, support student academic and career development, promote social and emotional growth, and collaborate with school and community partners. The position requires at least 80% of time providing direct or indirect services to students.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Help all students develop academic, career, and personal/social skills.
- Establish and evaluate a school counseling program based on ACSA model.
- Provide direct counseling services, peer facilitation, crisis counseling, and short‑term counseling.
- Assist with restorative practices and trauma‑sensitive school activities.
- Analyze student data to identify academic, career, social, and emotional needs.
- Advocate for equity, remove systemic barriers, and promote a rigorous education for all pupils.
- Deliver counseling lessons in large‑group, classroom, small‑group, and individual settings.
- Maintain confidentiality, student records, and comply with district policies and state/federal laws.
- Participate in committees, crisis response planning, and community partnership activities.
- Attend trainings and ongoing professional development.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education:
Master’s Degree or higher in school counseling or related field from a regionally accredited college.
Licenses/Certificates:
Valid Nevada educator license with a school counselor endorsement or ability to obtain one.
