Overview
Special Education Facilitator Full-time Standard (Teacher Leadership Required) at Washoe County School District. The SEF provides subject matter expertise in special education to assist principals, teachers, and district personnel in implementing IDEA and related laws; supports IEP development; provides on-site professional development to build capacity of special education teachers.
Responsibilities- Provide consultative support for special education teachers and IEP teams to formulate IEPs and instructional objectives.
- Assist with planning and managing to promote program effectiveness; provide in-service activities for staff.
- Increase awareness of community resources; support WCSD Strategic Plan goals related to special education.
- Deliver embedded on-site professional development to build capacity and ensure students perform comparably to general education peers.
- Model and teach instructional and behavior management strategies; co-teaching with general and special education teachers; coordinate scheduling to serve students effectively.
- Provide MTSS-related support, data collection, and guidance for low incident populations; ensure effective IEP program use.
- Maintain current knowledge of laws and district programming to provide subject matter leadership to staff and families.
Education/
Experience:
Bachelor s degree in general or special education or related field; five years of successful classroom teaching experience preferred;
Teacher Leadership Pool qualification required with annual professional learning if not currently in the pool.
Licenses/Certificates:
Valid Nevada special education teaching license.

Salary and BenefitsSalaries are on the Teacher s Salary Schedule; benefits for eligible employees working 27.5 hours/week or more include medical/dental/vision/life, sick leave, holiday pay, vacation pay, and PERS. Fingerprinting and background checks are required for new employees.
