On-Call Childcare Provider (see additional job information)

Childcare providers support the supervision and care of students, including those who may or may not be receiving Special Education services at various school sites and community locations. These services are typically provided during Parent University workshops or events.

Essential Duties / Responsibilities
  • Plan, coordinate, and lead engaging activities for children.
  • Prepare and distribute materials and set up audio‑visual equipment.
  • Supervise children in various settings including playgrounds, school halls, and libraries.
  • Enforce school rules and maintain discipline in a fair and positive manner.
  • Serve as a role model for good sportsmanship and leadership.
  • Develop rapport with students and families to foster a supportive environment.
  • Assist children with meals and refreshments (e.g., breakfast/dinner).
  • Sanitize toys, play equipment, and maintain a clean, safe environment.
  • Help children keep good hygiene.
  • Engage with all students, including those receiving Special Education services.
  • Support students with cognitive, physical, or emotional/behavioral disabilities (ages 3–12).
  • Assist students based on their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Modify activities to ensure accessibility and participation for all children.
  • Provide emergency and first aid care as needed.
  • Be physically capable of moving students weighing 50–80 pounds.
  • Implement non‑violent behavioral intervention procedures.
  • Monitor and ensure the safety and hygiene of children in care.
  • Help children maintain good hygiene practices.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student information and records.
  • Communicate effectively with a diverse range of individuals.
  • Analyze situations accurately and take appropriate action.
  • Interpret and explain district policies and procedures as they relate to the role.
  • Organize and manage learning center supplies.
  • Prepare and facilitate developmentally and culturally appropriate curriculum.
  • Create a learning environment that supports multiple learning styles.
  • Facilitate learning centers that encourage exploration and discovery.
  • Manage classroom behavior and implement interventions when necessary.
  • Participate in district training programs as requested.
  • Stay current with best practices in childcare and behavioral support.
Qualifications
  • Any experience equivalent to the education and experience that would provide the required knowledge and skills is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and skills would include a high school diploma.
  • A minimum of six (6) months of experience working with pre‑school and school‑age youth is desirable, or any experience that would demonstrate the ability to successfully perform the duties and responsibilities.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a CPR Certification.
Special Considerations

This on‑call position requires the ability to work a flexible schedule, which may include evening hours, weekends, and evenings during school hours.

Childcare will be provided for children from age 3 through middle school. No diaper changes.

Job Duties
  • Knowledge of educational principles and techniques, student behavior and characteristics, basic discipline and behavior modification techniques, spelling, grammar, punctuation, basic mathematics, office methods and procedures, and common office equipment.
  • Skill in securing and maintaining the confidence and cooperation of children; spelling correctly; reading, writing, and speaking at a level required for the job; preparing and maintaining accurate records; organizing and distributing instructional materials; operating and maintaining audiovisual equipment.
  • Ability to deal tactfully with children, parents, and staff; evaluate situations accurately; take effective action; teach good sportsmanship; understand and carry out oral and written instructions; establish and maintain effective relationships; provide leadership and develop rapport with children.
