Summary

Under general supervision of the Principal and/or Athletic Director, the Coach – Head Boys Soccer SY26 is responsible for coaching or advising students in a specified athletic activity, maintaining high standards of coaching practice, injury prevention, and safety.

Coach (Sports)
Under general supervision of the Principal and/or Athletic Director, responsible for coaching or advising students in a specified athletic or non-athletic Extended Day Duty Activity, requiring a high standard of sound and acceptable coaching practices. The incumbent adheres to a highly efficient and technically sound program of injury prevention and safety precaution.

• Develop rapport with students and provide sound leadership; example of good sportsmanship; apply fair discipline.
• Cooperate with Principal, Athletic Director, and other staff; communicate program status (trips, games, etc.).
• Develop system for accountability, upkeep, and protection of equipment.
• Develop good public relations in the school and community.
• Attend contests and practice sessions.
• Complete reports evaluating the activity and recommend improvements.

• Equivalent to a high school diploma; preferred applicants are teachers currently under contract with Washoe County School District.
• Some experience as coach/advisor in this activity.
• Knowledge of rules, theory, and regulations, including rule changes.
• Skill in providing leadership, developing rapport with students, organizing practices and contests, communicating verbally and in writing, supervising students, and teaching good sportsmanship.
• Valid Nevada teaching certificate desirable; CPR certification required.
• Willing and able to work weekends and at various times.

Position is not contracted; compensation is a stipend based on the Extended Day Duty Scale negotiated with the Washoe County Teachers Association.
