Coach - Assistant Volleyball

Summary

Under general supervision of the Principal and/or Athletic Director, the Coach – Assistant Volleyball is responsible for coaching or advising students of Washoe County School District in a specified athletic or non‑athletic Extended Day Duty Activity. The incumbent adheres to a highly efficient and technically sound program of injury prevention and safety precaution.

• Develop rapport with students and provide sound leadership.
• Act as an example of good sportsmanship and apply discipline in a fair and positive manner.
• Ensure the general health and welfare of students and oversee their conduct.
• Maintain cooperation with the Principal and/or Athletic Director and communicate overall program details, including trips and games.
• Develop a sound system for the accountability, upkeep, and protection of equipment.
• Build positive public relations within the school and community.
• Attend contests and practice sessions.
• Complete appropriate reports evaluating the activity and recommend improvements.

• Equivalency to a high school diploma; teacher contract with Washoe County School District preferred.
• Significant experience participating in and/or functioning as a coach/advisor in the specified activity.
• Knowledge of rules, theory, and regulations related to the activity, including ongoing rule changes.
• Skill in providing leadership, developing rapport, constructing organized practices and contests, supervising students, and teaching good sportsmanship.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Valid NCAA or local CPR certification (required for all coaches/advisors in athletic activities).

Education, experience, knowledge, and skill requirements as outlined in the Qualifications section. A valid Nevada Teaching Certificate is desirable; a CPR certificate is required. Incumbents must be willing and able to work weekends and at various times of the day.

This is a non‑contracted position. Compensation is based on a stipend according to the "Extended Day Duty Scale" negotiated with the Washoe County Teachers Association.
