School Speech & Language Pathologist
Under the general supervision of the Special Education Administrator, the Speech Language Pathologist provides direct and consultative service to special needs students to improve communication as it relates to school tasks. Interventions are delivered in the students’ least restrictive academic environment, including integrated classroom service, pullout sessions, collaboration with school staff, observation, and consultation to the IEP team.
Responsibilities- Provides diagnostic, remedial, and consultative services for students across communication domains, including receptive/expressive communication disorders, articulation/phonological disorders, fluency, and voice.
- Assists in identifying students at risk due to educational, physical, or mental limitations.
- Develops the assessment process and written procedures; completes educational or early intervention assessments, including student observation, record review, interviews, and standardized/non‑standard testing for suspected disabilities within specified timelines.
- Prepares comprehensive assessment reports and participates as an IEP team member in determining appropriate treatments.
- Develops and implements long‑ and short‑term goals, objectives, and therapy intervention plans to enable student progress.
- Delivers services on an individual or group basis in the least restrictive environment while maintaining records, materials, equipment, and treatment supplies.
- Stays current with research, evidence‑based practices, and maintains professional growth.
- Provides parent and staff education on speech‑language services.
- Equivalency:
Master’s degree in speech‑language pathology preferred;
Bachelor’s degree required. - At least one year of school experience desirable.
- Knowledge of relevant assessments (e.g., Receptive, Expressive, and Social Communication Assessment;
Test of Integrated Language and Literacy Skills;
Test of Language Development;
Clinical Evaluation of Language Fundamentals; Test for Auditory Comprehension of Language; Goldman‑Fristoe Test of Articulation). - Skill in oral and written communication, collaborative work with school personnel, goal development, structured activity implementation, record keeping, and interpersonal interaction.
- Licenses/Certificates:
Valid State of Nevada driver’s license;
Nevada teaching license in Speech and Language Impairments; clinical competence certificate preferred.
Work is predominantly sedentary; may involve walking, standing, bending, carrying light items, and occasional driving. Typical office and training room environments are used.

SalaryTeacher’s Salary Schedule. Salaries are subject to adjustment each fiscal year. New employees are normally placed on the entry step of the grade of the position.
