You will play a crucial role in the design and development of utility substation Protection & Control (P&C) engineering design packages that include drawings such as one‑line diagrams, three‑line diagrams, wiring diagrams, AC/DC elementary diagrams, circuit schedules, logic diagrams, operating diagrams, and more.

The 2026 Engineering Boot Camp, powered by Qualus University, will start in July 2026. As a program participant, you will receive an offer to be a full‑time employee with Qualus.

• Coordinate with Substation Design Engineers, Relay Settings Engineers, and other groups to ensure design concurrence.
• Develop complete engineering design packages for protective relaying and communication systems, including one‑line diagrams, three‑line diagrams, AC/DC schematics, logic and functional diagrams, panel layouts, control house layouts, wiring/connection diagrams, interconnection diagrams, relaying equipment specifications and bill of materials.
• Work on project teams supporting all quality and project management goals.
• Meet all project deadlines and support the processes and procedures to meet them.
• Maintain up‑to‑date technical skills related to the design of electrical substations and protection and control schematics for the electric utility power grid through on‑the‑job work and formal training.
• Maintain substation awareness and safety consciousness.
• Show aptitude to quickly learn and apply test procedures for various types of substation equipment.
• Possess good PC skills and the ability to support testing activities as required by the project lead.
• Develop drawings and assist in the preparation of design packages using CAD/drafting skills.
• Prepare additional support documentation as needed to assist procurement, construction, and operation/maintenance of systems being designed.
• Consistently follow established design standards and CAD drafting standards while ensuring quality, accuracy, and completeness.
• Identify process improvement ideas and communicate them through appropriate management channels.

• BS Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET‑accredited school with a focus on power systems.
• Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
• Microsoft Office product application.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Micro Station.
• Educational experience directly related to working with medium to high voltage electricity (preferred).
• Must have the ability to work independently, accurately, and have high attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to effectively discuss technical recommendations with customers.
• Strong computer skills.
