Product Compliance Technician

We are seeking a detail-oriented and hard-working Product Compliance Technician. The focus of this position is to reinforce and advance our company’s product development processes primarily by creating and managing the product standards compliance system.

• Establish an internal standards system by evaluating requirements from global and national compliance standards such as UL, NEC, CSA, and IESNA.
• Design and construct test environments by following criteria from the official standards.
• Carry out tests on engineering samples, prototypes, and production units for stated criteria involving mechanical, electrical, photometric, and environmental factors.
• Set up test devices and apparatuses according to testing procedures defined in the standards.
• Maintain internal calibration of test equipment by interacting with suppliers and lab equipment companies.
• Research existing technologies and products to develop baseline understanding of standards
• Communicate with external labs and test device suppliers via email and phone.
• Ensure testing consumables and replacement parts are acquired and maintained to perform the required compliance tests.
• Establish and maintain lab operating safety procedures.
• During new product development phases, clearly define internal testing capabilities and outline what external tests are required to comply with new product standards.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma
• 2 years of minimum laboratory, manufacturing, or other relevant work experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• Electrical knowledge/proficiency (previous work with industrial, control, or other electrical systems)
• Experience using specialized equipment such as power analyzers/multimeters, oscilloscopes, photometric equipment, humidity/heat chambers
• Prior experience with compliance standards

Knowledge, Technical Skills, and Abilities:

• Intermediate or advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and Word
• Ability to work effectively with minor distractions
• General aptitude for technical troubleshooting (software, hardware, physical electrical, etc.)
• Know how to interpret electrical schematics, product specifications, and industry standards
• Self-motivated to lead and complete projects with competence
• Capable of communicating effectively, written and verbally
