Surgical Tech, Medical Assistant
Responsibilities
The Sierra Medical Center is part of Northern Nevada Health System, a regional multi‑facility system that excels at offering quality care to residents of the greater Truckee Meadows. This Scrub Tech position is part‑time, offers full benefits, and has a convenient schedule. We are looking for a dynamic individual who assists surgeons during operative and invasive procedures, ensures the operating suite is adequately prepared for each procedure, monitors the PAR level of all surgical instruments and supplies, and assists managers with supervision and education.
The role includes participating in departmental staff meetings and performance improvement activities.

- Interact professionally with patients, family, and coworkers.
- Adapt procedures to meet the individual needs of patients ranging from infants to geriatric patients.
- Prepare the room in a timely manner with all anticipated instruments, sutures, supplies, and equipment for each surgical procedure, or all anticipated endoscopes, instruments, supplies, and equipment for each GI Lab procedure.
- Assist in positioning, prepping, and draping of patients for surgical procedures.

- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
- Surgical Technician Certification required within 6 months of hire, or verifiable hospital surgical tech experience prior to 1/1/2018.
- Current BLS certification.
- Minimum of one year of work experience in the operating room.
