Library Director

Overview

The County of Washoe is seeking a Library Director. The Library Director serves as the chief executive and visionary leader of the Library, guiding the development, delivery, and continuous improvement of programs and services that enrich the lives of residents and reflect the evolving needs of a dynamic community. The Director provides strategic direction and operational oversight for all aspects of library administration, including budgeting, staffing, facilities management, technology integration, community partnerships, and long‑range planning.

This role requires a leader who is both strategic and hands‑on—someone who can set a bold vision for the future while maintaining operational excellence across multiple branches and service areas. The Director will oversee library staff and resources to deliver high‑quality customer service and innovative programs that meet the needs of patrons of all ages and backgrounds.

The Director will be an experienced library professional with a strong understanding of both traditional library services and evolving trends in digital engagement, data‑driven planning, and equity‑centered service delivery. They will demonstrate exceptional communication skills, fiscal and organizational management expertise, and a genuine passion for advancing the Library’s mission as a trusted community resource.
