Job Summary
We are seeking a Veterinary Technician Assistant II for our Safety Assessment site located in Reno, Nevada
.
The Veterinary Technician Assistant II will be responsible for surgical technical duties, intermediate and advanced surgical procedures and assist with laboratory animal health documentation and management.
Responsibilities- Perform basic veterinary technical skills (treatments, biological sample collection, TB tests, veterinary observations, etc).
- Provide environmental enrichment for laboratory animals according to facility and Federal guidelines.
- Perform animal follow‑up observations as required.
- Monitor animal health visually and by following detailed schedules.
- Generate animal treatment records and schedule and track follow‑ups.
- Assist in inventory and stocking of vet rooms (drugs and supplies); organize and maintain vet exam rooms.
- Clean animal areas, transport animals and maintain related equipment.
- Record required logs.
- Observe animals and report apparent abnormalities.
- Sanitize cages and related equipment as required.
- Administer basic veterinary treatments (IM injections, SC, etc).
- Perform routine preventive health care (nail/teeth clipping, ear exams, dental exams).
- Measure and distribute feed to laboratory animals according to established procedures.
- Perform quarantine and isolation procedures as required.
- Assist in receipt, transfer and shipment of animals.
- Perform all other related duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or General Education Degree (G.E.D.).
- 1–2 years of related experience in a laboratory animal facility, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- ALAT certification preferred.
Pay Range: The pay range starts at $22.00 USD per hour. Salaries vary within the range based on experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.
