Starbucks Barista at Grand Sierra Resort
Responsibilities- Welcomes guests by determining their coffee interests and needs.
- Educates guests by presenting and explaining the coffee drink menu, answering questions.
- Sells coffee and coffee grinding and brewing equipment by explaining differences in coffee beans and coffee preparation machines; demonstrating how brewing equipment operates.
- Prepares and sells coffee drinks by following prescribed recipes and preparation techniques for coffee drinks, such as espresso lungo, caffe latte, and cappuccino.
- Maintains inventories by replenishing coffee bean supply; stocking coffee brewing equipment; maintaining supplies, pastries, and cookies for the coffee bar.
- Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
- Maintains a safe and healthy work environment by following organization standards and sanitation regulations.
- Improves quality results by studying, evaluating, and re‑designing processes; implementing changes; maintaining and improving the appearance of the store and coffee bar.
- Enhances the coffee shop’s reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests, exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
- Operates the POS (Point of Sale) for half of the shift, 4 hours minimally.
- Performs daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning tasks.
- Assists with the monthly breakdown of the store for deep cleaning.
- Provides any other duties as assigned within the scope of this position.
- Consistently exhibits courteous, respectful, and appropriate communications and presents information in a concise and understandable format.
- Contributes to a positive work environment, fosters collaboration and provides a tangible contribution.
- Meets requirements of regular attendance to effectively complete job responsibilities in a timely manner.
- Demonstrates proficiency in simple reading, writing, math, and task completion skills.
- Possesses skills in compiling, coordination, following instructions, memorization, problem solving, independent judgment, and decision making.
- Flexible to work all shifts including holidays, nights, and weekend hours as business needs dictate.
- Must be a minimum of 16 years of age.
- Previous barista experience preferred or any combination of education, training, or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- While performing the duties of this job, the team member is constantly standing, frequently walking, reaching overhead, bending over, crouching, kneeling, and balancing during the duration of their shift.
- Must be able to push/pull up to 50 lbs occasionally.
- Frequent repetitive use of both hands and occasional light and firm/strong grasping motions as well as finger dexterity.
- Constant use of vision abilities is required including distance, depth perception, field of vision, and color vision.

- Work performed indoors alone and frequently with and around others. Team member will perform work face‑to‑face including verbal contact with others on extended shifts around computer equipment and other mechanical devices.
