The purpose of the Sales Associate I is to assist The Salvation Army in the operation of the Thrift Store for the Reno Adult Rehabilitation Program. This job description is a broad outline of responsibilities.

• Stock, clean, rag out goods, operate the cash register and prepare daily paperwork.
• Responsible for keys to open and/or close store.
• Maintain good customer relations and provide prompt, courteous assistance to all customers.
• Answer telephone in a courteous fashion and direct callers to the appropriate department.
• Ensure store appearance is clean and orderly.
• Perform janitorial duties: cleaning windows, vacuuming, dusting, sweeping, cleaning bathrooms, and other tasks assigned by management.
• Other duties as assigned by Store Manager or Assistant Manager.

• Must be able to handle cash, make change, and operate a register.
• Must be able to take instructions and carry them out without direct supervision.
• Knowledge of merchandise preferred.
• Previous retail experience a plus.
• Good rapport with customers.
• Strong ability to utilize time management and multitasking.

• Must possess a valid Nevada Class C Driver License and be able to drive a Salvation Army vehicle.
• Must be 21 years or older.
• Complete The Salvation Army vehicle course training.

• Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis.
• Ability to grasp, push, and/or pull objects.
• Ability to reach overhead.
• Ability to operate a telephone.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds non‑continuously.
• Ability to operate a computer.
• Ability to process written, visual, and/or verbal information.
• Ability to operate basic office equipment and tools.
