Summary

Summary

The Grand Sierra Resort and Casino is seeking a talented and qualified individual to serve as a property Security Investigator. This position requires a dynamic, self-motivated individual capable of both strategic and tactical decision-making and a high level of expertise related to conducting, documenting and reporting on security investigations.

The Security Investigator will monitor and audit Grand Sierra Resort and Casino operating systems for fraud, to include, trends, variances, no sales and inventory control. Report to management any incidents, discrepancies or suspicious activities that could result in the loss of assets to the Company. The purpose of this role is to protect company assets and provide safety to all GSR employees and patrons.

Maintain the highest level of discretion and confidentiality while performing all activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned

  • Maintaining compliance with internal standards, regulations and gaming regulations.
  • Visually monitoring all areas of the property at all times in order to identify possible theft or safety risks.
  • Respond to security calls requiring in depth investigations (i.e. deceased persons, suspicious circumstances).
  • Research and review disputes, locate video evidence requested for investigations by Law Enforcement or other departments and conduct special assignments.
  • Maintain a professional working relationship with law enforcement agencies and other organizations pertaining to investigations.
  • Maintaining the highest level of discretion and confidentiality while performing all duties.
  • Conduct internal and confidential investigations.
  • Knowledge of gaming laws, financial areas, property policies and procedures, with a basic understanding of the hospitality and gaming industry.
  • Meets the attendance guidelines of the job and adheres to regulatory, departmental and company policies.
  • Perform supportive functions and other duties as assigned within the scope of this job description to be determined by the supervisor based on business needs.
Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have a track record of performing each essential responsibility satisfactorily. Be able to sit for long periods of time and work in mid-level to low light. Minimum 2 yrs. prior law enforcement or investigative experience required.

Preferred experience:

Previous experience and knowledge of Mirasys video surveillance system and I-Trak or equivalent systems preferred. Ability to review, gather and interpret data, make decisions based on the data and document the information. Must have the ability to work independently and in close quarters with others and remain alert throughout the duration of the shift.

EDUCATION

High School Diploma or GED. A Valid Nevada Gaming License and Alcohol Awareness card required.

Language Skills

Must have exceptional oral and written communication skills. A high level understanding of interpersonal skills to productively deal with business contacts and team members at all levels of the company. Possess a strong attention to detail. Have the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from all levels of staff and Law Enforcement. Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language in order to complete reports, correspondence and communicate with Team Members, peers and Management.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to accurately add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure and calculate figures and amounts.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define and solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations in a calm, professional manner. Ability to interpret and follow through on a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral or schedule form. Excellent time management, problem solving and organizational skills are a must.

Other Qualifications

Must be a minimum of 21 years of age. Flexible to work all shifts including holidays, nights, and weekend hours. Effective time management and multi-tasking abilities are a must, a professional appearance is required.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATION

Ability to obtain/renew all government required licenses or certification (Gaming Registration and Alcohol Awareness Card).
