We are currently hiring a Lead Technician to work in Reno, NV . This role is a direct hire opportunity, joining a global team offering continued industry training.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Installation/decommissioning of network and cabling infrastructure in a Data Center environment.
- Deliver sustainable and repeatable solutions and processes, always with an eye on improvement.
- Provide structured feedback on project progress to Stakeholders.
- Exhibit quality workmanship on all work and maintain Data Center cleanliness.
- Follow all production, safety and quality standards, codes, and industry best practices.
- Collaborate with various Stakeholders to remove project obstacles.
- Reading and comprehending blueprints and building documentation/redline work.
- Broad understanding of Data Center infrastructure technologies.
- Knowledge and use of basic telecom hand tools.
- Must be capable of leading a crew of 1-5 technicians.
- Must understand customer service, perform job walks and communicate with customer for job requirements.
- Accept responsibility for the outcomes of work performed by him/her and/or by employees that directly report to him/her.
- Clear understanding of job safety requirements.
- Be able to read and understand job floor plan.
- Should be familiar on wiring schemes and wiring testing.
- Should be able to pull all types of low voltage cables.
- Should understand and be capable in performing field terminations and labeling.
- Capable of maintaining orderly paperwork, capable of running midsize to large projects and service jobs.
- Possess skill to layout MDF and IDF closets, be able to dress all types of cable and perform all types of terminations and should include basic understanding of fiber equipment, all types of cable and fiber terminations.
- Basic understanding of both copper and fiber cable testing and troubleshooting.
- Capable of working in Data Centers.
- Shall be able to work on analog, DSL, and be able to extend T1 lines.
- Be able to patch network equipment.
- Reports to Operations Manager and take daily directions from Technician, Technician II, Lead Technicians, Senior Technicians and Advance Senior Technicians.
- Track and submit timesheets for crew reporting
- Perform job walks
- Maintaining paperwork and running service jobs
- Copper/Fiber (term, test, splice, troubleshoot)
- Responsibly of outcome for work
- Track and submit timesheets for crew
- Effectively communicate with Foreman, Leads, Tech)
- Understanding metrics/SLA's and able to track
- Knowledge and understanding of network Handover
- Track lessons learned as they occur
- Coordinates with QAQC on quality status walks
- Knowledge and understanding of Project Close Out
- Identify the tech's strengths and weaknesses
