Homeless Liaison One Year Only (40 hrs/wk, Ends June 2026)
Under the general supervision of the Intervention Director, this position serves as district liaison to all WCSD schools and performs the duties needed to ensure that all WCSD children experiencing homelessness achieve the same high‑quality academic standards expected of all children by eliminating barriers to their education. This position meets the goals outlined in the Children in Transition Program plan and performs related work duties as required.
ResponsibilitiesIdentifies students as Children in Transition (CIT), provides materials and support services to school advocates, participates in staff training, and gives support services to WCSD schools in the following areas: communicating with schools and community to create awareness of issues and educational barriers; collaborating with school and community agencies to identify children and youth experiencing homelessness; facilitating school enrollment; providing timely transportation;
coordinating services to meet special needs; and guiding the development and implementation of strategies that encourage socialization and success within a caring school environment.
Provides schools, resource centers, community agencies, and parents with current information regarding homelessness and offers professional development concerning the McKinney‑Vento Act to WCSD school staff. Maintains records and prepares reports required by state and federal grants, WCSD, and the State of Nevada.
Employment Standards- Education/
Experience:
Any combination of education and experience that could likely provide the required knowledge and skills is qualifying. Typical delivery includes an Associate Degree or class credits in an educational or social work field or human services field; OR two (2) or more years of experience in a school or community agency working with homeless or at‑risk families.
Knowledge of issues surrounding homelessness, community resources and services, procedures for identifying students and families who may need services, and program development specifically for Children in Transition.
Skilled at: planning, problem solving, coordinating activities, analyzing situations accurately, taking appropriate action; communicating effectively with a wide range of people, including transitional families, school personnel, and community agencies; interpreting and explaining district policies and procedures as they relate to the position; making group presentations on homeless issues; and showing sensitivity, respect, and appreciation for diverse cultures and living situations.

Grade 20
Sch A: $19.68 (entry step);
Sch B: $23.73 (entry step). New employees are normally placed on the entry step of the grade. Salaries are subject to adjustment each fiscal year.

Temporary employees working less than 6 months do not receive benefits.
Other InformationNew employees will be fingerprinted upon hire and every five years thereafter, with a $58.50 deduction from the first paycheck to defray fingerprinting costs. Fees are subject to change.
The job offer is conditional until a report is returned from the FBI and Nevada Department of Public Safety that meets WCSD standards for employment purposes.
