Coach - Girls Assistant Golf Coach; SAF

Overview

Coach - Girls Assistant Golf Coach (SAF) at Washoe County School District. Under general supervision of the Principal and/or Athletic Director, coaches or advises students in a specified athletic or Extended Day Duty Activity, following sound coaching practices and an injury prevention/safety program.

• Develops rapport with students and provides leadership; models good sportsmanship; applies discipline fairly and per prescribed procedures; maintains health and welfare of students and the actions and conduct of students.
• Maintains cooperation with Principal and/or Athletic Director and other Extended Day staff; communicates with the Principal and/or Athletic Director regarding the overall program, including trips and games.
• Develops a sound system for accountability, upkeep and protection of equipment.
• Develops good public relations in the school and community.
• Attends contests and practice sessions.
• Completes appropriate reports evaluating the activity and makes recommendations for improvements.

• Any combination equivalent to education and experience that could provide required knowledge and skills. Prefer that applicants are teachers presently under contract with WCSD.
• Some experience participating in and/or functioning as a coach/advisor in this activity.
• Knowledge of rules, theory and regulations relating to the specific activity, including rule changes and new developments.
• Skill at providing leadership, developing rapport with students, constructing organized practices and contests, communicating verbally and in writing, supervising students, and teaching good sportsmanship.
• Licenses/Certifications:
  
  Possession of a valid Nevada Teaching Certificate is desirable; CPR certification is required for coaches/advisors involved in an athletic activity.
• Special Considerations:
  Willingness to work weekends and at various times of the day depending on the activity.

This position is not a contracted position and compensation is based on a stipend according to the "Extended Day Duty Scale" negotiated with the Washoe County Teachers Association.
