Overview

A Principal Engineer is a leadership role that focuses on overseeing and driving the technical direction of projects for specific geographical regions or scopes of engineering services. You will be responsible for project success, ensuring adherence to client specifications, budgets, and timelines. You will also manage and mentor other engineers. This role supports the structural engineering practice, directly serving construction operations within Michels Corporation.
The focus includes contractor-deferred analysis and design and structures contracted through alternative delivery processes (design/build, progressive design/build, CMGC, etc). Experience in construction engineering (temporary structures, erection engineering, means and methods structural analysis), bridge engineering, dam engineering, marine structures and/or general heavy civil structural design are a plus.

What It Takes
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in structural engineering, 10+ years of related experience, or equivalent
- Structural Engineer (SE) license or having passed the NCEES 16-hour structural engineering exam with eligibility to obtain SE via comity without additional testing
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record as determined by Michels
Preferred
- Active involvement in professional societies and technical committees related to work
