Shift: Full Time, 1 FTE, hours 0800‑1630 Monday‑Friday; variable. Weekend and holiday rotation expected.

Manager, designee – Supervisor or Lead

Salary Range:
Min $41.47 – Max $68.43/hour, DOE

Job Overview

The Occupational Therapist provides therapy to inpatient patients, ensuring safe discharge/transition plans, performing functional assessments, and collaborating with the healthcare team. The role includes basic program development, quality improvement, student and volunteer supervision, and leadership in clinical practice.

Responsibilities
  • Provide therapy that meets patient needs and supports safe discharge/transition plans.
  • Assess impact of therapeutic modalities and procedures per patient plan of care.
  • Maintain communication with patients, caregivers, and team, ensuring compliance with VMC policies, state/federal regulations, and billing guidelines.
  • Engage in program development, quality improvement, marketing, team leadership, and delegation.
  • Supervise students, volunteers, and peer mentors as needed.
  • Adhere to Safe Patient Handling policies; lift/carry up to 40 lbs.; maintain standing, sitting, crouching, bending, walking for extended periods.
  • Participate in emergency management, continuing feedback, and return‑to‑normal operations.
  • Provide patient and family education; facilitate discharge planning; update documentation timely.
  • Collaborate with nursing and other care team members on occupation‑based plans to prevent complications and promote safe discharge.
  • Perform evaluations, set individualized goals, and modify treatment plans based on interdisciplinary input.
  • Engage in department process improvement, data collection, and analysis for program evaluation.
  • Serve as a resource for equipment and treatment technique updates, and provide input for patient education materials.
  • Act as a resource for clinical and non‑clinical roles during emergencies.
Qualifications
  • Current Washington State OT Interim or Active License.
  • Current BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Evidence of NBCOT registration within first 12 months of hire.
  • Effective interpersonal skills, professional appearance, and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Ability to communicate across diverse age groups, cultures, and backgrounds.
  • Physical ability to lift/carry up to 40 lbs and maintain required positions for extended periods.
  • Minimum 3 years of clinical experience (Clinical Resource component).
Essential Physical/Mental Demands

Stand, sit, crouch, bend, walk extensively; hand dexterity for manual treatments; lift/carry up to 40 lbs; adhere to Safe Patient Handling policies.

Leadership & Collaboration

Participate in development of new programs, networking, educational activities, strategic plan initiatives, and community service.
