Position: IT Supervisor - KCSO 911

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day administration of information systems for the KCSO Communications Center
  • Perform hands-on technical work which may include design, analysis, maintenance, programming, and problem resolution relating to IT systems
  • Analyze and evaluate new software and hardware technology and products and advocate for necessary changes and upgrades
  • Participate in the development of information technology policies and procedures and security plan
  • Ensure the Communication Center's technology is in compliance with public safety emergency communications standards and policies
  • Advise KCSO Leadership on future upgrades to maintain technological and infrastructure needs
  • Manage vendor contracts and relationships
  • Maintain updated knowledge of relevant information technologies for public safety answering point centers
  • Be the primary point of contact with various regional partners
  • Supervise Communications Center IT team; develop performance measures, conduct performance evaluations; and recommend hiring and disciplinary actions to appropriate management staff
Desired Qualifications
  • Prior IT experience supporting a law enforcement agency
  • Three or more years supervising an IT team
  • Five or more years of IT consulting for large, complex organization
Qualifications
  • To be considered for this position, candidates must have diverse Information Technology experience, including experience with public safety answering point (PSAP) call centers, telephony systems and recent supervisory experience.
  • Broad knowledge of IT infrastructure, application development and communication architecture.
  • Demonstrated experience in information technology and communication systems, networking engineering design, database administration, operating systems and system architecture.
  • Experience in IT analysis, design, development, implementation, maintenance, documentation and training procedures and practices.
  • Skilled in critical thinking and technology project management.
  • Demonstrated experience in resolving time sensitive problems efficiently and effectively.
  • Ability to remain up to date on latest technology and cutting-edge solutions.
  • Experience supervising IT staff; with the ability to provide direction, coaching, feedback, training, and developing performance measures.
  • Knowledge of human resources principles and practices.
  • Demonstrated skill in working with complex projects and assignments simultaneously.
  • Skilled in communicating technical information to audiences with minimal technical knowledge.
  • Skill in building consensus and coming to a resolution among a diverse group of individuals.
  • Availability to be on-call after hours for urgent/critical situations.
  • Ability to meet Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) security requirements and KCSO background standards.
