Min $46.94 / hr – Max $85.76 / hr (DOE)
Assume responsibility and accountability for a group of patients for a designated time frame, providing safe, quality care using the nursing process as the basis for clinical practice.
Responsibilities- Manage unit workflow, including staff assignments reflecting patient acuity, competency, and shift demands.
- Mentor and integrate staff, float and agency personnel, ensuring adherence to unit policies and hospital goals.
- Lead as a clinical resource for staff, teaching safe use of patient care equipment.
- Monitor patient rounds, assess unit/environmental safety, and report/correct deficiencies.
- Maintain documentation, compliance with Joint Commission standards, state codes, and practice acts.
- Provide excellent customer service, respond to patient and family concerns, and document feedback for performance appraisal.
- Maintain fiscal responsibility by monitoring staffing, adjusting coverage, and planning for the following shift.
- Serve as the Charge Nurse when the nurse on duty assumes the role of patient assignment and unit leadership.
- BSN preferred; current RN license in Washington state.
- At least six months of RN experience or successful completion of a graduate nurse residency orientation.
- American Heart Association BLS for healthcare providers required.
- Demonstrated leadership skills, clinical judgment, and systems thinking.
- Excellent communication, cultural competence and ability to work with diverse and vulnerable populations.
- Proficiency in electronic documentation and order entry.
- Emergency Department RN – ACLS & PALS within 3 months, NIHSS within 3 months, TNCC within 12 months, ENPC within 12 months.
- Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) – ACLS & PALS within 3 months, preferred 6 months of experience in endoscopy or 1 year medical/surgical.
- Critical Care RN – ACLS within 3 months, NIHSS within 3 months, minimum of one year of experience in emergency/critical care nursing.
- Labor & Delivery RN – NRP within 3 months, ACLS within 3 months, Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Monitoring certification.
- Neonatal Intensive Care RN – NRP within 3 months, six months Level II NICU experience or successful completion of a NICU residency program.
Safe patient handling per VMC guidelines: lift from floor to overhead, carry up to 40 lbs, stand, walk for extensive periods, stoop, bend, reach, crouch, and squat. Requires full body range of motion, manual dexterity, and eye‑hand coordination; normal corrected vision and hearing.
