The position involves working on a medical-surgical unit specializing in respiratory and renal medicine.

The unit has a total of 43 private beds.

The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1 : 4-5 for both day and night shifts, with a rotation system in place for fairness.

Common patient diagnoses include COPD, CHF, pneumonia, gastrointestinal issues, renal conditions, and alcohol withdrawal.

Experience with acute renal failure, hemodialysis, and peritoneal dialysis is beneficial, although dialysis will be contracted out to a separate service.

Pharmacy calculates dosages for specific medications, while nurses adjust rates as necessary.

The nurse will not have an assignment rotation if acting as charge nurse.

Nurses will be responsible for reading telemetry strips, with remote monitoring in place.

Weekend and holiday shifts will be required as necessary.

Standby may be required if scheduled but not utilized.

Nurses must be willing to float to similar areas within their skill set.

Royal blue scrub color is required.

Candidates should have prior experience with an electronic health record system.
