Seasonal Helpers - South Plant

About the Role

Seasonal Helpers support the Building & Grounds team at the South Treatment Plant to maintain and beautify trails, grounds, and structures. Duties include gardening, pressure washing, litter removal, and other essential maintenance tasks that become more demanding during spring and summer. The position is a short‑term, temporary role lasting up to 6 months, ending 10/31/25 or up to 960 hours, whichever comes first.

• Operate mowers, pressure washers, line trimmers, leaf blowers, and other assorted hand or power tools.
• Assist personnel with cleaning and maintaining facilities, including grounds, garden beds, clean floors, windows, various surfaces, and surrounding areas.
• Perform general laborer duties such as clean‑up, moving furniture and equipment, picking up litter, and operating county vehicles and other assigned tasks.
• Assist the custodian in cleaning plant common areas, emptying garbage, and working on deep clean projects around the plant.

• Experience in the safe operation of hand and power tools.
• Experience with hedge trimmers, industrial pressure washers, and power lawnmowers.

• Valid, unencumbered Washington State Driver’s License.

Location: South Treatment Plant, 1200 Monster Rd SW, Renton, WA 98057.
Schedule: 40‑hour work week with overtime eligible. Requires ability to work all shift schedules and in adverse weather conditions.
Union Representation: S.E.I.U. 925 (Wastewater Treatment Division).
Duration: Short‑term temporary position up to 6 months ending 10/31/25 or up to 960 hours, whichever comes first.
Physical Requirements: Fieldwork at a wastewater treatment plant, lift and carry equipment up to 50 pounds, use ladders, and be exposed to hazardous chemicals and odors. Physical and driving record reviews required before final job offer.
