Experts of store process and efficiency who enable a consistent experience for our guests by ensuring product is set, in-stock, accurately priced and signed on the sales floor. The General Merchandise and Food Sales team leads inbound, outbound, replenishment, and promotional signing processes for all General Merchandise areas of the store. This team conducts inventory accuracy, merchandise setup and maintenance and pricing processes for all areas of the store.

Experts enable efficient delivery to our guests by supporting pick, pack and ship fulfillment work.

Role overview:

The role of a General Merchandise Expert includes knowledge of guest service fundamentals, experience in retail business fundamentals (department sales trends, inventory replenishment, process efficiency and improvement), and experience executing daily/weekly workload to support business priorities and sales goals.

• Create a welcoming experience by greeting guests while completing daily tasks, and engage with guests to help solve their specific needs.
• Thank guests and acknowledge their decision to shop at Target.
• Execute daily tasks assigned by your leader to achieve goals aligned with business priorities, including receiving products, restocking shelves, organizing backroom, arranging merchandise, and putting up promotional signs for GM areas.
• If certified, operate power equipment to move merchandise or store fixtures.
• Execute processes such as price changes, merchandise setup and maintenance, and inventory accuracy as directed by your leader for all areas.
• Learn how operational procedures affect inventory management, store profitability, and product availability.
• Be knowledgeable about resources, products, and services available in the total store and in your area to solve issues for the guest and improve their experience.
• Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety and compliance; work safely and report hazards.
• Support guest services such as back-up cashier and digital fulfillment processes (e.g., picking and packing orders, delivering pickup orders) while complying with relevant laws.
• Other duties based on business needs.

• Attention to detail and ability to follow multi-step processes

• Accurately handle cash register operations as needed
• Climb ladders and move merchandise safely, including lifting up to 44 pounds
• Flexible work schedule (nights, weekends, holidays) with reliable attendance
• Ability to work in varying temperatures and environments (e.g., Drive-Up, carryout)
• Ability to remain mobile for the duration of a shift
