Bechtel is the licensing, engineering, procurement, and construction partner on Terra Power’s Natrium team. Selected by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) for its Advanced Reactor Demonstration Program, Natrium is participating in a DOE initiative to re-establish U.S. leadership in nuclear energy that provides matching funding to industry to design and build an operational advanced reactor.

Terra Power, a leading advanced generation technology company founded by former Microsoft CEO Bill Gates, will be deploying its 345 MWe sodium fast reactor (SFR), called Natrium. The Natrium plant features an advanced, cost-competitive reactor design that is safer, simpler, easier, and less costly to construct, less expensive to operate, and able to provide energy that is competitive with fossil fuels.

It also features an innovative molten salt energy storage system designed to be complementary to solar and wind power by evening out the peaks and valleys in production when the sun is not shining, or the wind is not blowing. With the reactor and energy storage output combined, the plant can produce more than 500 MWe of power.

This position is for a Pipe Support Engineering Supervisor that will provide leadership and oversight to a team of engineers & designers that prepare pipe support designs & calculations. The successful candidate must have strong organizational and teamwork skills, proven problem-solving abilities, can-do attitude, and the desire to innovate designs.

This role will report to the Plant Design & Piping Engineering Group Supervisor. #LI-SNH

• Provide group oversight and daily direction to personnel performing pipe support design.
• Attend project status meetings and provide input to schedule and budgets
• Plans, develops, directs, and participates in the day-to-day Plant Design activities on projects
• Ensures compliance with Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides, and Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs)
• Reviews and approves key PD&P engineering drawings, calculations and bid summaries.
• Ensures that designs comply with all applicable installation codes,regulations, and standards including ASME B31.1, B31.3, and AISC.
• Perform coordination review of specifications and other documents prepared by others.
• Candidate should possess knowledge of OSHA, NFPA and piping codes.
• Software applications to be used are GT Strudl or hand calculations for pipe support structural design.

• Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8
  -10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience

• Excellent listening, oral, and written communication, planning, and organizational skills are essential.
• Experience supervising a group of Engineers and Designers.
• Familiar with Bechtel Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs) and their application to projects.
• Ability to communicate across engineering disciplines.
• Understands work processes of other disciplines and departments on projects.
• Ability to express technical issues in a clear and concise manner, both written and verbally.
• Ability to resolve design issues with subordinates, suppliers, other engineering disciplines, construction, and the client
