This position is fully on site in Reston, Virginia and requires an active TS/SCI with CI Polygraph.

Responsibilities

  • Perform hands on Splunk log ingestion, normalization, correlation, and analysis to identify anomalies, threats, or behavioral indicators
  • Conduct Crowd Strike investigations, endpoint alert triage, and host level containment
  • Perform Atask and related vulnerability scans, evaluate findings, assign risk levels, and drive mitigation workflows
  • Conduct recurring security assessments to identify weaknesses in networks, applications, and infrastructure
  • Develop, refine, and maintain incident response procedures tailored to IL5 and IL6 systems
  • Lead root cause analysis and escalation decision making during potential security incidents
  • Support RMF lifecycle activities including control selection, implementation, assessment, and continuous monitoring
  • Map NIST 800 53 controls to system components and validate proper compliance
  • Validate inherited controls to ensure they are effective and not merely documented
  • Build dashboards and monitoring automation to support continuous monitoring requirements
  • Harden operating systems, network devices, cloud workloads, and application stacks in alignment with government baselines
  • Apply Zero Trust principles across identity, segmentation, authentication, and data access
  • Collaborate with engineering, IT, and development teams to integrate secure design without blocking delivery
  • Produce clear documentation for control implementation, incident reporting, system diagrams, and compliance artifacts
  • Support audits, A&A packages, system reviews, and technical briefings with leadership
Required Skills and Key Competencies
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field
  • Seven or more years of cybersecurity engineering experience, including leading security control implementations
  • Strong hands on experience with Splunk search, correlation, dashboards, and log analysis
  • Direct experience with Crowd Strike endpoint security tools
  • Experience performing Atask or similar vulnerability scans and interpreting results
  • Proven background implementing and validating NIST 800 53 and RMF controls in classified environments

Experience working within IL5 and IL6 security boundaries
  • Strong understanding of network protocols, operating systems, and enterprise infrastructure
  • Proficiency in incident response, containment, escalation decision making, and forensic analysis
  • Experience with continuous monitoring, automation, and dashboard creation
  • Solid understanding of Zero Trust concepts and practical implementation
  • CISSP or equivalent certification meeting DoD 8140 requirements
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain complex security issues to technical and non technical partners
