Job Summary
In this role, you will serve as a key member of a litigation team that proactively assists on a wide and complex range of legal issues. You will research, investigate, organize, and collaborate to ensure achievement of team goals in an ethical and inclusive work environment. Because this role requires you to access controlled technology pursuant to U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) regulations at 10 C.F.R. Part 810, you must be a “U.S. person” as defined by the regulation.
MajorResponsibilities
- Serve as paralegal on insured litigation and claims, specifically including latent claims and exposure-related claims.
- Conduct internal searches, coordinate and communicate with company records managers to identify records potentially responsive to subpoenas and written discovery requests.
- Work with company personnel, external law firms, and vendors to investigate and research claims and to compile information and documents potentially responsive to subpoenas and written discovery requests.
- Coordinate with internal litigation support group and external vendors regarding processing of records for outside counsel review and production.
- Track, organize, and file documents related to law firms and vendors, using various software systems and databases.
- Input, process, facilitate, and track payments of law firm and vendor invoices, including preparing reimbursement requests for such expenses.
- Maintain litigation and claims databases and prepare reports.
- Develop and implement processes and workflows; monitor litigation workflows to ensure deadlines are met.
- Review, organize, and distribute incoming department mail.
- Continuous improvement mindset and willingness to pitch in and help.
- Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and must have 10+ years of relevant experience in a law firm or corporate legal department.
- Applicants must possess the ability to safely lift Bankers’ boxes of documents from floor level. These boxes are retrieved from storage and can contain dust.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.
- Strong organizational skills, initiative, and attention to detail.
- Ability to securely handle confidential information and communications.
- Experience managing document collection and reviews in large, complex matters using electronic document and case management systems.
- Trial and deposition support experience.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, including managing multiple assignments, prioritizing, and progressing assignments without constant oversight.
