Reston, VA Contract On-Site Flexibility/Remote: 100%
Automation Tester (Location is Remote)
Role / DutiesDesigning and implementing automated testing frameworks to streamline testing processes and improve efficiency.
Writing and maintaining automated test scripts for functional, regression, and performance testing of software applications.
Integrating automated tests with CI/CD pipelines to enable continuous testing and deployment.
Running automated test cases to validate software quality, identify defects, and ensure adherence to requirements.
Analyzing software requirements and user stories to identify test scenarios suitable for automation.
Updating and enhancing automated test suites to accommodate changes in software functionality and requirements.
Working closely with developers to understand software design and behavior, and address issues identified during testing.
Conducting automated performance tests to assess application performance under various conditions and workloads.
Implementing automated security tests to identify vulnerabilities and ensure the security of software applications.
Generating test reports, analyzing test results, and communicating findings to stakeholders for decision-making.
Providing training on test automation tools and techniques to team members and sharing best practices for test automation.
Setting up and maintaining test environments, ensuring consistency and reliability for automated testing.
Skills:
Proficiency in Java, Python, or JavaScript for test script development.
Experience with Selenium, Appium, or similar tools for automated testing.
Knowledge of tools like Postman for testing application interfaces.
Ability to integrate automated tests with CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins or similar tools.
Understanding of AI testing frameworks and tools for testing machine learning models and AI-driven applications.
Strong analytical skills for test case design and result interpretation.
Skills:
Clear communication for collaborating with team members and documenting test results.
- A minimum of eight (8) years experience in software development, software quality assurance/control, and/or related field.
- A degree from an accredited College/University in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline is preferred.
- Able to perform all functional duties independently on high-visibility programs, or mission critical aspects of a given program.
- Able to oversee the efforts of direct reporting resources and/or be responsible for the efforts of all staff assigned to a specific job.
- Experience training/mentoring less experienced personnel.
- Extensive knowledge of and experience with formal software testing for complex software applications.
- Extensive experience testing software applications, identifying/documenting defects, and working with developers and end users to resolve defects.
- Extensive experience with multiple defect tracking tools (e.g. Rational, Mercury).
- Extensive experience authoring software-quality-related documentation such as requirements specifications, test plans, test cases, test scripts and test reports.
- Excellent communication skills.
