Senior Software Developer, Application

Overview

The Senior Software Developer is responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining application software in a fast‑paced Agile environment. This role supports the full software development lifecycle and contributes to technical decision‑making, solution design, and team collaboration.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze and refine software requirements.
  • Design, develop, and document application software.
  • Perform code reviews, debugging, benchmark testing, and optimization.
  • Support architecture decisions and contribute to technical roadmaps.
  • Work within an Agile team to plan, build, and deliver incremental releases.
  • Utilize tools such as Kubernetes, Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket (or equivalents).
  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation throughout the lifecycle.
Required Qualifications
  • Experience with Java required, Jython experience also a plus.
  • SQL, .Net, C#.
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in software requirements, design, coding, testing, debugging, architecture, and documentation across the full SDLC.
  • Bachelor's or Associate degree in a relevant field, or equivalent IT certification. (

    Note:

    Two (2) years of education may be substituted for five (5) years of experience.)
  • Two (2) years of experience in software program/project design.
  • Two (2) years of experience working in an Agile software environment.
  • Two (2) years of experience with Kubernetes, Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, or equivalent technologies.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a favorable Tier 1 background check for unclassified systems.
Clearance
  • U.S. citizenship required
  • Must have an active DoD Public Trust Clearance.

Compensation for roles at Synergy varies depending on a wide variety of factors including but not limited to the requirements of the role; education and certifications; knowledge, training, skills and abilities; level of experience; geographic location; and alignment with market data, law, and other business and organizational needs. As required by local law, the posted pay range represents the lowest to the highest pay that Synergy believes in good faith it might pay for this particular job, depending on the circumstances.

The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
