Job Title: Sr Java Production Support Night Shift Engineer
Location: Reston, VA or Washington, DC
Type: Contract To Hire
Compensation: up to $75/hr W-2
Contractor Work Model: Hybrid, onsite 1x monthly
Hours: Monday‑Friday, start 11 pm; must be flexible to support applications during outage
Training: First 2‑3 weeks will be day shift to train
Scope: API Management – no new development
Eligibility: US Citizen or GC who can convert to permanent
Client: BCBS FEPOC
3+ years experience in API Management.
3+ years Java experience developing Java/JEE enterprise applications (JEE, Spring, Hibernate, Web Services, RESTful, AJAX, JSON, SQL, JUnit, Maven).
Experience with frameworks:
Spring MVC, Spring Batch, Spring Boot, Spring Integration, Spring Security, Hibernate, MyBatis.
Solid experience with HTML, JavaScript, CSS, AJAX.
Experience with JavaScript frameworks:
Angular, React, JQuery.
Experience with Spring Integration technology is a big plus.
Demonstrated ability to write efficient, clean, readable, reliable code.
Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, problem‑solving skills.
Independent, self‑starter, and team player.
PurposePerforms complex analysis, design, development, testing, and debugging of software ranging from operating system architecture integration to application design, selection of systems, languages, and equipment. Designs, develops, codes, tests, and documents critical and complex application programs for computer systems. Works with stakeholders to define scope, objectives, establish baselines, standards, and processes. Breaks down requirements and creates highly complex systems.
Essential Functions- 25% Perform technical detail design, coding, testing of applications. Serve as subject matter expert for maintaining and enhancing existing software systems. Develop and analyze interface design documentation. Comply with hardware/software standards. Deliver large systems for tens of thousands of users. Adhere to code quality, migration, Dev Ops standards.
- 25% Perform software analysis: requirements, use case development, design. Implement and document source code to design specs. Perform testing: develop and run automated unit tests, execute structured automated test cases. Compile, assess, report data results.
- 25% Develop software solutions for enterprise environments. Analyze and implement functional/non‑functional requirements. Perform operations & maintenance of existing systems. Identify improvement and streamlining opportunities. Demonstrated experience with front‑end/back‑end frameworks and tools. Assist in estimating development of application features.
- 25% Provide direct technical support for high‑visibility critical trouble calls. Work cross‑functionally to develop highly reliable software ommend new technology, extend open‑source libraries, participate in product scoping and roadmap. Evaluate emerging technologies. Mentor junior engineers.
