Temporary, Term-Time Only (Monday-Friday)

Pay Range: £92.56 - £110 per day (holiday pay included)

Increased rates may be offered depending on experience, additional qualifications, and individual school budgets.

Academics Agency is searching for compassionate, resourceful SEN Teaching Assistants to join our bank of staff working across Retford's diverse specialist provisions.

What Your Role Will Involve:
  • Providing responsive, in‑class assistance to pupils with a wide spectrum of SEN, including autism, ADHD, moderate learning difficulties, and communication disorders.
  • Running focused intervention sessions—both one‑to‑one and in small groups—to reinforce core academic skills, social understanding, and emotional regulation.
  • Implementing tailored behaviour guidance techniques that encourage positive choices, self‑esteem, and active participation.
  • Collaborating closely with classroom teachers to modify lesson materials, resources, and delivery methods according to each learner's unique profile.
  • Offering additional support for pupils with sensory sensitivities, physical accessibility needs, or speech and language delays.
  • Playing an active part in monitoring pupil progress, contributing to EHCP reviews, and sharing observations with the SENCO and wider professional network.
Who We Are Looking For:
  • A minimum Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, or substantial equivalent experience within education, childcare, or health‑related settings.
  • Demonstrable experience supporting children or young adults with SEN—whether in schools, residential homes, or community programmes.
  • Sound familiarity with differentiation strategies, visual supports, and assistive technologies.
  • Outstanding interpersonal abilities, combined with a patient, adaptable, and solution‑focused mindset.
  • An active Enhanced DBS certificate registered on the Update Service, or a willingness to obtain one promptly.
  • Two satisfactory professional references, covering your most recent roles.
