This role requires developed clinical and professional dietetic expertise so that adults, their carers and families benefit from a well-coordinated pro-active, specialist, efficient and effective service within the designated specialism/setting/district. The post holder is responsible for providing specialist assessment, formulation, and diagnosis, requiring sound clinical reasoning, critical thinking, reflection and analysis, and subsequent therapy/management programmes. This will include individual assessment, individual and group therapy and management, training, and advice.

Please note applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check. Costs are deducted from salary following appointment. The cost of the DBS application is £26.40 (standard) or £54.40 (enhanced), this cost will be deducted from your salary over the first 2 months of employment.

You are encouraged to enrol for the DBS Update Service. An annual fee of £16 per year applies.

  • Professional for all aspects of own work and delegated work to staff, students and others, in line with HCPC, BDA and Trust Policy, ensuring compliance with national standards and implementation within the area.
  • To work collaboratively with a variety of professionals ensuring management and treatment meet the holistic needs of patients, providing a well-coordinated care plan for specialism/setting
  • To participate in multi- disciplinary projects as agreed.
  • To ensure staff have appropriate skills, training, supervision
  • To identify training and development needs.
  • To be responsible for providing mentoring, clinical supervision and/or management of junior staff and Clinical Support Workers as agreed.
  • To develop induction and/or preceptorship of staff.

  • To work autonomously to provide a specialist service to designated specialism/setting within a multi-disciplinary/multi-agency context and inform and advise the care unit as to training or development needs.
  • To independently triage, manage and prioritise own complex caseload providing specialist assessment, formulation, diagnosis, intervention and advice based on evidence based practice
  • To undertake, interpret, and act on complex information gathered from a range of sources, including instrumental investigations, diagnostic formal and informal assessments, and information from other agencies and professionals, using sound knowledge of evidence based practice, clinical reasoning skills and experience in applying relevant treatment approaches.
  • To develop and provide specialist packages of care to individuals working as an integral part of a multi-disciplinary team.
