UK Fusion Energy (UKFE) Ltd is a subsidiary of the UK Atomic Energy Authority, established by the UK Government to deliver fusion energy through the design and delivery of the Spherical Tokamak for Energy Production (STEP) prototype. UKFE is building the company, attracting talent, engaging with industry and developing a supply chain to plan and construct the STEP prototype. Fusion energy is expected to be commercially viable by mid‑century and the UK aims for first operations around 2040.

The salary for this role is £40,402 plus excellent benefits including an outstanding pension.
This position is based at West Burton, Nottinghamshire and onsite working is expected for 3 days each week.

Key Responsibilities- Co‑develop and implement data systems and processes to support effective Benefits Realisation and Monitoring and Evaluation activities.
- Design and implement updated data management processes to ensure robust quantitative data for BM&E purposes.
- Collaborate with UKFE staff and whole‑plant partners to integrate input from all relevant sources across the staff network.
- Ensure new data systems, tools and platforms maximise UKFE’s insight and provide comprehensive quantitative data for BM&E activities.
- Lead the management of data systems and processes to enable continuous improvement of data collection and management.
- Support the development of data best practice, including Data Governance and Data Management policies, and ensure compliance.
- Run updated data management processes to enable accurate tracking of programme impact and efficient benefits reporting to the UK Government.
- Lead benefit data visualisation, using interactive tools and techniques to provide greater insight into STEP benefits.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders to transform raw data into products that clearly communicate the STEP benefits delivered, both internally and externally.
- Use latest analysis techniques to quickly and accurately analyse data and produce evaluation reports and briefings on the socio‑economic impact of STEP.
- Respond to ad‑hoc requests for data views related to policy and key thematic areas such as the UK Government Spending Review.
- Build and maintain a strong network of stakeholders, including UKAEA, whole‑plant partners, and relevant HMG teams, to support effective data management and visualisation.
- Provide training, coaching and mentoring across UKFE to improve data systems and management practices.
- Demonstrate a leadership mindset by fostering a positive, inclusive team environment, respecting diversity, and promoting teamwork.
- Act as a cultural ambassador, representing UKFE’s values and professionalism in all interactions.

- A relevant degree or equivalent experience in data management, statistics, or a numerate STEM subject.
- Experience visualising and analysing large or complex data sets using visualisation tools to maximise insight for diverse audiences.
- Familiarity with statistical and data management methodologies and techniques.
- Practical knowledge of data quality, validation, and verification.
- Technical skills in spreadsheet modelling, R, and Python.
- Ability to respond quickly to changing demands and priorities while maintaining high quality.
- Beneficial: experience managing primary and secondary data in a policy, government, or research and innovation context.
- Beneficial: experience working on large‑scale, complex transformative programmes and/or an interest in the fusion industry or science & engineering programmes.
