We currently have vacancies for Mobile Maintenance Train (MMT) Fitters.

Colas Rail have recently been awarded the Mobile Maintenance Train (MMT) contract. This covers the maintenance, operation and driving of a fleet of eight MMTs based across the UK. We are recruiting for 4 Fitters to work on the Network Rail–owned MMT fleet. No prior rail experience is required; full training is provided.

MMTs are fully equipped engineering workshops on rails. They provide a safe, mobile workspace for teams fixing track defects and carry the equipment and materials needed at the worksite. As an MMT Fitter you will keep the trains safe, reliable and fit for service through planned maintenance, inspections and fault finding, and provide technical support during operational shifts.

The Fitter is responsible for carrying out essential maintenance on Mobile Maintenance Trains (MMTs) to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operations. This role forms part of a graded structure, starting at a Trainee level, progressing to Maintainer, then to Fitter, and then to Technician, with increasing responsibilities and technical expertise. Key responsibilities include operating the A50 and hoist, performing regular maintenance and repairs, and troubleshooting technical issues.
