Guest Advocate (Cashier)

Starting Hourly Rate: $18.00 USD per hour. Pay Range: $18.00 - $27.00 USD per hour.

About On‑Demand

You can work as much or as little as you like. Your schedule may vary depending on shift availability and store needs. This role is ideal for those looking for a personalized work schedule.

As an On‑Demand Team Member, you will not be posted on the weekly schedule but can create your own schedule by picking up shifts posted by leaders or other team members via the myTime mobile scheduling app.

Reliability and prompt attendance are required. You must engage by picking up and working shifts at least every four weeks (minimum of four hours). Flexibility can be granted in certain circumstances, but you must respond to contact attempts to confirm your interest in working shifts. Failure to respond or to work at least one shift within five months may result in employment termination.

Upon successful application, you will attend a Target Welcome orientation and commit to a short‑term structured training schedule to ensure readiness before beginning shifts via myTime.

Service & Engagement

Advocate a guest experience that welcomes, thanks, and exceeds guest service expectations by focusing on interaction, loyalty enrollment, and store cleanliness. Support both in‑store and digital services and solutions, ensuring exceptional quality for guests at the check lanes, guest services, gift registry, pick‑up, and drive‑up.

Typical Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate a service culture that prioritizes the guest service experience by delivering the service standard.
  • Create a welcoming experience by greeting guests while completing daily tasks.
  • Engage with guests in a welcoming way to help solve their specific needs.
  • Be knowledgeable about available tools, products, and services to improve the guest experience.
  • Thank guests and express appreciation for choosing Target.
  • Scan and bag items efficiently, accurately, and in compliance with food safety standards.
  • Work efficiently to minimize guest wait time while maintaining service and accuracy.
  • Inform guests of current and upcoming brand launches, store activities, and events.
  • Explain and assist with Target Loyalty programs and other fulfillment services.
  • Help guests use Wallet and other Target App features.
  • Attempt every return and follow register prompts, partnering with leaders as needed.
  • Partner with leaders to de‑escalate situations and recover the guest experience.
  • Deliver accurate service to Order Pick Up, Drive Up, and Registry guests.
  • Maintain a clean work area, gathering abandoned items, baskets, and hangers.
  • Stock supplies during store hours while remaining available for guests.
  • Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety, and compliance.
  • Work safely at all times, complying with safety policies and reporting hazards.
  • Support guest services such as order pick‑up, Drive‑up orders, and returns while maintaining compliance.
  • Support Cash Office processes, including management of cash systems.
  • Perform other duties based on business needs.
