Job Responsibilities- Accountable for performing day‑to‑day non‑clinical pharmacy operations and administrative activities, ensuring efficient workflow and a positive patient experience; serve as a full‑time certified pharmacy technician.
- Operate pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions. Under the supervision of a pharmacist, supervise pharmacy technicians and cashiers within company policy, state and federal laws, and business ethics.
- Select, schedule, develop, and train pharmacy technician personnel; manage performance, including discipline, termination, and coaching.
- Engage customers and patients by greeting and assisting with products and services, resolving complaints, and answering non‑clinical questions. Model and share customer service best practices.
- Assist pharmacist in patient care: registration, data entry, medication preparation, counting, verification (within legal limits), and health services such as vaccine administration and screenings.
- Delegates, directs, and assigns non‑clinical work, ensuring tasks are completed on time and that staff maintain efficient workflow.
- Prepare and file required reports and records for the company and governmental agencies.
- Manage core pharmacy workflow, coordinate daily schedule, recommend pharmacy hour allocation, and ensure the pharmacy is clean, neat, and adequately supplied.
- Ensure compliance and execution of all business administrative activities and inventory management tasks that do not require pharmacist licensure; manage annual inventory preparation.
- Complete non‑clinical patient calls as directed by the Pharmacy Manager or pharmacist.
- Drive new technology and process rollouts, champion change, and engage the team in action planning. Ensure proper operation and maintenance of department equipment.
- Adhere to Walgreens Co. Good Faith Dispensing policies during all prescription‑dispensing activities, understanding responsibilities in meeting dispensing standards.
- Apply company asset‑protection techniques, support the Pharmacy Manager with diversion monitoring, and report any security concerns.
- Communicate prescription errors to the accountable pharmacist and follow company policies in relation to pharmacy errors and the Continuous Quality Improvement Program.
- Ensure accurate processing of insurance claims, resolve customer issues, and conduct or participate in third‑party audits when necessary.
- Assist Store Manager and Pharmacy Manager in analyzing and improving pharmacy financials, operational quality, and customer service.
- Manage Community Outreach Portal, coordinate immunization clinics and community events, and build relationships with retail partners.
- Lead performance management of technicians, including discipline and compliance with state and federal laws.
- Hire, onboard, train, and schedule pharmacy technicians; ensure timely completion of training and adherence to company policies.
- Verify that all team member licensures, registrations, and certifications are active and compliant with regulations, using Walgreens Online Verification System as needed.
- Maintain PTCB certification and continually enhance pharmacy and healthcare knowledge and skills.
- Obtain required certifications, education credits, and training modules (e.g., LTMP e‑modules) and follow performance improvement plans.
- Obtain a willing mentor and coach through the Healthcare Supervisor for professional development.
- Communicate with pharmacy team, relay messages, and participate in store/pharmacy meetings including five‑minute check‑ins and weekly reviews.
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- PTCB or ExCPT certification (except in Puerto Rico).
- At least one year of work experience as a pharmacy technician in a retail or hospital setting.
- Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
- Willingness to obtain active immunization certification within 90 days of hire (except in Community Specialty Pharmacy and Health System Pharmacy locations).
- Previous people‑management or leadership experience.
- Previous work experience at Walgreens with an Exceeding Expectation rating on the last performance evaluation.
