Summary
This position is located at our Wakefield, RI clinical site. Monday
- Friday 8:00 AM- 4:30 PM or 8:30 AM- 5:00 PM. Under the general supervision of the Manager, Radiologic Technologist and according to established policies and procedures, performs the functions of a Mammography Technologist. The Mammography Technologist is expected to practice safe procedures and adheres to radiation safety measures.
Principal Duties And Responsibilities
- Complete patient education regarding the exam and promote comfort for the patient
- Perform diagnostic or screening mammogram as ordered
- Prepares for and assists the Radiologist in the completion of intricate mammography examinations, including breast biopsies.
- Produce high quality films for the radiologist to evaluate
- Perform quality control functions related to mammography
- Demonstrate an understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology and medical terminology.
- Maintain a high degree of accuracy in mammography positioning and exposure technique.
Basic Knowledge
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Ability to work as a team member
- Continually sets the example of professionalism, flexibility and high levels of patient care.
- Must possess general knowledge of equipment, its location and vendors.
- Responsible for keeping the site manager informed of any equipment problems
Experiences
A technologist with a minimum of two (2) years of experience as a mammographer. Must possess two years’ experience in performing mammography QA under the MQSA Standard. Must be ARRT registered; grad of Radiologic Technology Program. TOMO experience preferred.
Physical Demands
Walks and stands intermittently throughout the day. May lift and position patients and supplies up to 50 pounds. Ability to move patients from scanner table and transport patients in wheelchairs and/or stretchers. Ability to crouch, reach and lift to allow appropriate manipulation positioning and placement of ancillary equipment.
