The Patient Service Representative is responsible for welcoming and assisting patients with scheduling appointments, registering patient demographics, answering calls, collecting co-payments, documenting messages, identifying issues, and reporting to appropriate staff.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Minimum High School Diploma or GED
Preferred:
- Experience with payment/billing collections
- Minimum 1-year ambulatory care medical office experience
- Candidates who do not meet all the preferred qualifications are encouraged to apply.
Significant
Job Functions:
- Identify appointment scheduling appropriateness, direct emergent needs to nurse team.
- Complete accurate data entry for patient registration, encounter billing, insurance changes.
- Answer calls and take accurate messages.
- Confirm, cancel, or reschedule appointments.
- Perform outreach to patients.
- Assist in scheduling appointments and directing calls to nurse triage team.
- Complete end of day closing reports.
Physical Effort / Environment:
- Work onsite.
- Proficient with computers, answering calls, taking messages, verifying insurance.
- Moderate physical activity (walking, standing, sitting, bending, stretching).
Work Schedule Demands:
- Full Time Position.
- Work evenings, weekends, holidays as scheduled.
- Occasional overtime may be required.
Communication
Skills:
- Excellent oral and written communication.
- Effective change management and quick adaptation.
- Operational problem solving and decision-making.
- Knowledge of medical terminology (preferred).
- Judgment handling sensitive and confidential information.
- High volume work in demanding fast-paced environment.
