This Assistant Residence Director - Registered Behavioral Technician is responsible for providing day-to-day services to program participants. In addition to providing direct care, this position facilitates the on‑site training and supervision of staff, manages participants' funds, and operational and staffing budgets. They provide assistance to appropriately plan and schedule staff and ensures that the participants' social activities and community integration are meaningful and well‑planned.
The Assistant Residential Director/RBT promotes compliance with medication management, day program, and community activities, using agency vehicle or personal vehicle as needed. This position works within a multidisciplinary team following all support plans, including behavior plans, and is responsible for accurate documentation. The Assistant Residential Director/RBT provides leadership in the absence of the Residential Director.
- Assist the Residential Director with the oversight of the day‑to‑day operations of the assigned residence, including but not limited to:
- Provides direct support services to participants at least 32 hours per week, using this opportunity to model appropriate strategies to staff as well as ongoing learning opportunities.
- Ensures that all individuals are treated with respect, dignity, and support to take as much control as possible over routine activities in their home.
- Teach, assist, and support individuals in the community and at home so that they can learn and master skills that enable them to enhance their status by assuming socially valued roles.
- Supports each individual’s existing relationships and increases their networks of friends and acquaintances.
- Assists individuals with household shopping and maintenance as necessary, providing ongoing opportunities for them to assume increasing control and responsibilities.
- Assists with supervising staff directly and acts as a team leader.
- Leads teams by example through role‑modeling and coaching.
- Facilitates innovative, constructive problem‑solving, particularly in the absence of the Residential Director.
- Promotes teamwork between all team members via open professional communication, sharing responsibilities, and a positive, constructive attitude.
- Ensures that transportation for clients occurs using agency vehicle or staff’s personal vehicle as needed, to and from appointments, day program, community activities, etc.
- Implements ISP/Support Plans and strategies as written and at the frequency stated in the plan.
- Demonstrates accurate data‑collection procedures and consistent use of described support strategies that promote success.
- Monitors and maintains the individual’s program book to ensure that data collection is accurate and complete.
- Reviews data collection monthly and prepares written progress notes quarterly or at the frequency stated in the ISP.
- Attends ISP meetings.
- Follows and models all routines of the individuals and home, including, but not limited to, behavior support plans, nursing care plans, and therapeutic treatment plans (i.e., physical/occupational/speech/assistive technology).
- Assists in training staff in the implementation of intervention strategies and correct data collection procedures.
- Responds effectively to potential safety hazards and emergencies. Maintains a clean, orderly, and safe environment by respecting property and equipment. Follows proper maintenance and safety protocols.
- Contacts supervisors as needed in the event of concerns and/or crises.
- Models therapeutically appropriate support strategies.
- Assists in managing participants’ funds and operational budgets.
- Participates in the Incident Review process as assigned.
- Ensures that billable services are accurately documented and reconciled by deadlines.
- Assists the Residential Director in appropriately planning and scheduling staff, maintaining staffing budgets, and monitoring services for the individuals.
