Location:
East Providence, RI | Salary: $20.00–$25.00 per hour.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Successful completion of a Rhode Island state‑approved Nursing Assistant Certification course or other education meeting state requirements.
- Current Nursing Assistant Certification in Rhode Island.
- At least three months of prior nursing assistant experience in long‑term care (preferred).
- Moderate reading, writing, grammar and mathematical skills; proficient interpersonal and communicative skills.
- Auditory and visual skills; ability to bend, stoop, sit, stand, reach, and lift items weighing 50 pounds or less.
- Satisfactory completion of post‑offer pre‑employment physical as required.
- Provide quality nursing care to residents.
- Implement specific procedures and programs.
- Coordinate work within department and with other departments.
- Report pertinent information to the immediate supervisor and respond to inquiries or requests for information.
- Assist the immediate supervisor with tasks to support department operations.
- Supports the Mission, Values and Vision of the Holiday Retirement home.
- Is knowledgeable of resident rights and ensures an atmosphere of privacy, dignity and well‑being for all residents in a safe, secure environment.
- Supports, cooperates with, and implements specific procedures and programs for:
- Safety, including universal precautions and safe work practices, established fire/safety/disaster plans, risk management, security, equipment repair and maintenance needs.
- Confidentiality of all data, including resident, employee and operations data.
- Quality assurance and compliance with all regulatory requirements.
- Compliance with current law and policy to provide a work environment free from sexual harassment and all illegal and discriminatory behavior.
- Supports and participates in common teamwork:
- Cooperates and works together with all co‑workers; plans and completes job duties with minimal supervisory direction, including appropriate judgement.
- Uses tactful, appropriate communication in sensitive and emotional situations.
- Follows up with supervisor, co‑workers or residents regarding reported complaints, problems and concerns.
- Promotes positive public relations with residents, family members and guests.
- Completes requirements for in‑servicing training, acceptable attendance, uniform and dress codes, including personal hygiene, and other work duties as assigned.
- Provide quality nursing care to residents in an environment which promotes their rights, dignity, freedom of choice and individuality.
- Provide individualized attention, encouraging each resident’s ability to maintain or attain the highest practical physical, mental, and psychosocial well‑being.
- Knowledgeable of the individualized care plan for residents and provide support to residents according to the plan, contributing to the care planning process.
- Attend to individual needs of residents, including assistance with grooming, bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, incontinent care, toileting, colostomy care, prosthetic appliances, transfers, ambulation, range of motion, communication or other needs.
- Maintain the comfort, privacy and dignity of each resident in the delivery of services.
- Fully understand all aspects of residents’ rights, including the right to be free of restraints and free of abuse. Report incidents of abuse or violation of residents’ rights promptly.
- Assist in maintaining a safe, neat and clean environment; report environmental deficiencies to the charge nurse.
- Protect personal belongings of each resident; report missing items according to established policy.
- Observe residents for changes in condition or behavior and promptly report them to appropriate licensed nursing personnel.
- Provide care that maintains each resident’s skin integrity to prevent pressure ulcers, skin tears and other damage.
- Answer residents’ call bells promptly and courteously.
