Security Officer

Responsibilities

• Provides effective access control to the property entrances including vehicle entrances and personnel entrances
• Challenges personnel who do not have proper access
• Processes visitors, guests, and vendors
• Reads and understands bill of ladings and processes vehicles making deliveries and shipments
• Performs visual machinery checks to ensure they are operating properly
• Operates access control gates both manually and remotely
• Monitors the facility using closed circuit television
• Monitors access control system devices and conducts basic troubleshooting
• Prevents unauthorized access
• Controls the movement of people and vehicles
• Controls parking of the property as required
• Performs interior and exterior vehicle and/or foot patrols essential to property and employee protection
• Reasonably protects the property from fire, theft, vandalism, and unauthorized entry to assure the safety of employees and company assets
• Makes notifications to Executives per established procedures
• Maintains effective communications during normal duties and during incidents
• Checks for unsafe conditions, hazards, security violations, and unauthorized persons
• Monitors and administers security devices (e.g., badging systems, CCTV, etc.)
• Protects evidence or scene of incident in the event of accidents, emergencies, or security investigations; sets up barriers and signage, and provides direction or information to others
• Prepares logs or reports as required for patrol route; writes or types reports or enters information in a computer using standard grammar; inspects security control logs and acts as required
• Observes and reports incidents or suspicious activity to supervisors, company management, life/safety personnel or public safety authorities as appropriate for the circumstances and/or as required
• Responds to incidents including but not limited to fire, medical emergency, bomb threat, flooding, water discharge, elevator emergency, hazardous materials, inclement weather, and other incidents or conditions following procedures established for assignment, by the company, or through training or certification
• Provides investigative support
• Handles confidential information
• Monitors and verifies property removal from facility
• Performs other related duties as required

Hours:

Monday‑Friday 2:00 pm – 10:00 pm, overtime required as needed

• High School Diploma or G.E.D. required
• Valid driver’s license required
• Preferably two (2) years of physical security experience or
• Six (6) months physical security experience in a manufacturing environment or
• One (1) year in a law enforcement related field or
• One (1) year in the armed forces
• College credits in Security, Law Enforcement, Firefighting, Management, Human Relations, Information Technology, Psychology, Sociology or Business may supplement experience on a credit‑to‑experience conversion basis (twelve (12) credits = six (6) months of experience)

Rate: $21.22 per hour, including an additional $2 / hr shift differential for second shift
