Emergency Department Receptionist
Job Overview:
An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit an Emergency Department Receptionist to join the Emergency Care Directorate’s Administration Team at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd.
Please note that we will only accept applications from staff currently employed by Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board.
This post is fixed‑term/secondment for 12 months until 28/6/2027 due to maternity cover.

As a part of this very busy team, the successful applicant is expected to be very flexible, have a pleasant personality, a positive approach to the work, a good standard of education, be adaptable and have good organisational skills. Applicants must have excellent communication skills and the ability to deal with sensitive matters and highly confidential patient information. Previous receptionist/administrative experience and knowledge of the Welsh Patient Administration System (WPAS) and Symphony is desirable but not essential as full training will be provided.
Overtime is available.
The SDEC receptionist is responsible for providing an efficient front‑line service to the Same Day Emergency Care Unit within the Emergency Quadrant. You are expected to deliver a high standard of customer care to a wide range of client groups including patients, relatives and their carers while working as part of a multi‑disciplinary team. The post holder must maintain strict confidentiality and treat staff, patients, carers and relatives with courtesy and discretion at all times.
The ability to speak Welsh is essential for this post.

Qualifications. Essential criteria:
Up to GCSE standard for Maths and English or equivalent experience. Desirable criteria: ECDL.
Experience. Essential criteria:
Experience of office and administration, experience of setting up and using filing/IT systems, familiar with WPAS, IFIT, Welsh Clinical Portal and Emis Health. Desirable criteria:
Previous NHS experience, experience in managing clinic diaries/appointment schedules.
Skills. Essential criteria:
Willingness to be involved in implementing change, IT computer literate, effective communication skills. Desirable criteria:
Ability to speak Welsh (Level
3), familiarity with GDPR regulations.
Other. Essential criteria:
Team player, work on own initiative. Desirable criteria:
Ability to motivate others, ability to organise work within the department.
