Assistant Head of Education
Salary:
Up to £40k

The Assistant Head of Education vacancy at Cambian Pengwern College in Rhyl, Denbighshire, operates as a crucial part of the college's Senior Leadership Team (SLT).
In this role, you would support the Head of Education in driving continuous college improvement and managing the day‑to‑day running of the college.
This role also involves teaching for 1 day per week.
Experience / Knowledge Essential- Teaching experience and/or teaching qualification
- No criminal record including convictions, cautions, reprimands or bindings relevant to the safety and welfare of students or staff
- Successful experience of working effectively within special education
- Successful experience of implementing positive behaviour support strategies, with knowledge of recognized positive approaches to working with challenging behaviours associated with learning disabilities
- Successful experience in planning and organising educational programmes appropriate to individual's needs and abilities
- Knowledge of current curriculum developments and their implementation within the service‑specific setting
- Knowledge of Estyn common inspection framework
- Knowledge of the Additional Learning Needs Code
- Knowledge of anti‑discrimination and equal opportunities legislation as it applies to staff, students and others
- Knowledge of child and adult protection procedures
- Knowledge of key aspects of Health & Safety legislation
- Teaching qualification QTS/QTLS/PGCE/Cert Ed or equivalent
- Successful experience of effectively supervising other staff, including those who themselves have a supervisory role
- Successful experience of promoting good quality professional development to others
- Successful experience in taking a lead role in curriculum development for students with special educational needs
- Successful experience of setting, reviewing and evaluating measurable standards
- Knowledge of good practice and legislation in recruitment and selection of staff
- Knowledge of methods of self‑evaluation systems
- Clean, current driving licence
