Job Overview

Speech and Language Therapy Associate Practitioner – fixed term secondment until 31/07/2027 in Ceredigion, supporting the Flying Start and Families First programme.

Responsibilities
  • Work with pre‑school children to develop speech, language and communication skills.
  • Support Speech and Language Therapists in training and upskilling families, pre‑school settings and other professionals.
  • Embed and manage training resources within settings.
  • Provide reflective and constructive feedback to Therapists on clinical and non‑clinical observations.
  • Deliver services across client homes, Nurseries (Cylchoedd Meithrin), schools and clinics.
  • Engage in the creative development of training and clinic‑based resources, utilising IT systems.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Relevant qualification such as NNEB, NVQ, Diploma in Speech and Language Therapy or equivalent level 4 qualification.
  • GCSE grade C or above in English and Mathematics.
  • Experience working with children aged 0‑5, including those with communication difficulties and additional learning needs.
  • Experience working in a multi‑agency model with families and professional teams.
  • Experience using alternative and augmentative technology.
  • Previous NHS experience and bilingual (Welsh) working skills – Welsh speaker (Level 4) essential.
  • Knowledge of confidentiality issues and evidence of CPD/short courses related to the role.
Essential Skills

Excellent time‑management, organisation and interpersonal skills; creativity; confidence to support others; empathy towards children and families.

Welsh language: The ability to communicate in Welsh is essential for this post.
