Endoscopy Nurse – Band 5 (Development to Band 6 – Deputy Unit Manager)
Job OverviewThis is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated nurse to develop specialist skills and progress into a leadership role within a dynamic and supportive team. An exciting development post has arisen within the Endoscopy Department for a Band 5 Nurse to join our team. This role offers a clear development pathway: upon successful completion of the All-Wales Endoscopy Nurse Competency Framework, the post holder will progress to a Band 6 Deputy Unit Manager position.
This process is expected to take approximately 6–12 months. We are looking for an individual who is professional, enthusiastic, and compassionate, with the ability to provide clinical leadership and ensure care is delivered effectively and efficiently within the unit.
Full training will be provided following the All-Wales Endoscopy Nurse Competency Framework. Progression to Band 6 will be based on successful completion of competencies and demonstration of leadership and clinical expertise.
Main Duties- Deliver high-quality and compassionate care to patients undergoing endoscopy procedures.
- Work collaboratively with the Unit Manager and Matron to develop services with the Endoscopy Unit.
- Complete the All-Wales Endoscopy Nurse Competencies Framework to progress to Band 6.
- Demonstrate clinical endoscopy experience and documented competency in all aspects of Endoscopy Nursing.
- Act as a role model for expected clinical care and lead on delegated projects.
- Apply specialist knowledge in Endoscopy care delivery, including JAG, GRS, and Decontamination services.
- Welsh language ability is desirable;

Qualifications and experience will be assessed against the attached job description/person specification. Essential criteria include:
- Previous leadership/management role.
- All-Wales Endoscopy Nurse Competency Framework completion.
Desirable criteria include:
- Attended leadership/management course.
- Knowledge of JAG, GRS, and Decontamination services.
