Are you a skilled and compassionate nurse looking to enhance your career and expand your expertise in IV access? We are excited to announce a new Intravenous Access Service (IVAS) and are seeking 1 enthusiastic and dedicated Band 7 nurse to join our team on a secondment basis.

This new service will provide high-quality intravenous access support to patients with complex IV access needs within the acute and community setting. As part of this initiative, you will:

• Play a key role in delivering safe, effective IV access care and education.
• Use advanced techniques to insert and manage intravenous access devices, including ultrasound peripheral cannulas, midlines, PICCs and arm ports.
• Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes to include collaborating with outpatient IV services (OPAT) to enable early safe discharge from the acute setting where appropriate.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of best practices in IV access. We are looking for NMC Registered nurses who:
• Have strong clinical skills and a passion about intravenous access.
• Are eager to learn and develop expertise in intravenous access.
• Enjoy working as part of a team and contributing to service development.
• Have prior experience in IV therapy.

• Provide a reactive and comprehensive, patient centred IV access device insertion service.
• Work as part of the IVAS team in providing a PICC / Midline service and difficult to IV access (DIVA) service. The post holder must preferably be a PICC placer with experience in ultrasound guided peripheral access and have excellent cannulation skills.
• Working as a clinical resource in intravenous peripheral cannulation, care and management, responsible for insertion and complication management of complex IV devices and ensuring best practice is adhered to throughout the organisation.
• They will act as a lead specialist within BCUHB demonstrating a high level of expertise within the field of IV access providing specialist advice, education and support to health care professionals and patients. Provide ward and community based training and support in the care and maintenance of vascular access devices including extravasation support.

The post holder will actively undertake clinical audits and research within the specialist area and will contribute to the ongoing development of clinical practice, research and standards of care within the service, including development of policies, protocols and guidelines and contribute to service developments in collaboration with multidisciplinary colleagues.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post;
