Cost Accountant

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Cost Accountant to join their manufacturing operations team in Richards Bay . This hybrid role will involve analyzing production costs, managing inventory valuation, and contributing to pricing strategies. You will work collaboratively with production, engineering, and finance departments to optimize cost-efficiency and profitability. This position is crucial for providing insights into manufacturing expenses and supporting informed operational decisions, balancing office-based analysis with on-site factory floor engagement.

• Develop, maintain, and analyze detailed cost accounting systems and records.
• Monitor and analyze manufacturing expenses, identifying variances and recommending cost-saving measures.
• Manage inventory valuation, including standard costing, cycle counting, and physical inventory procedures.
• Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts related to production costs and overheads.
• Analyze product profitability and provide cost information for pricing decisions.
• Collaborate with the operations team to improve processes and reduce waste.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Cost Accounting, or a related field.
• Professional qualification (e.g., CIMA, CMA) is highly desirable.
• 3-5 years of experience in a cost accounting role, preferably within manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of cost accounting principles, inventory valuation methods, and overhead allocation.
• Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and advanced Excel skills.
• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
