About the Role
Our client requires a skilled Plant Metallurgist to join their processing facility in Richards Bay . You will play a pivotal role in optimizing the metallurgical performance of the plant, ensuring efficient recovery of valuable minerals and adherence to quality specifications. This hands‑on role involves troubleshooting, process improvement, and the application of metallurgical principles to enhance operational efficiency and cost‑effectiveness. You will work within a team of processing engineers and technicians, contributing to the overall success of the operation by maximizing yield and minimizing losses in a complex processing environment.
Key Responsibilities- Monitor and analyze plant performance data to identify opportunities for process optimization.
- Conduct metallurgical test work and trials to evaluate new reagents, equipment, or process modifications.
- Troubleshoot operational issues related to recovery, grade, and plant efficiency.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve mineral recovery and product quality.
- Ensure all metallurgical processes comply with environmental regulations and company standards.
- Prepare reports on plant performance, test results, and recommendations for improvement.
- Bachelor's degree in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in mineral processing or extractive metallurgy, preferably within a plant environment.
- Strong understanding of flotation, leaching, and other relevant metallurgical processes.
- Proficiency in metallurgical accounting and data analysis.
- Experience with process control and optimization techniques.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
